Shirley’s Place

Shirley’s Place offers sober transitional housing for up to 18 months for females and those who identify as female. Many of our residents come from our emergency women’s shelter, Community of Hope, and this is an important step to provide individuals with the stability and skills needed to graduate to permanent housing. There are 17 suites in total including low-barrier accommodation, 1-bedroom and studio apartments. All are fully equipped with a couch, dinette, kitchen, small appliances, TV, and linens. Participants' program fees include their apartment, all utilities, cable and internet, and laundry.

Daily programming is offered, and participants are expected to take part. Residents of Shirley’s Place will learn the skills to be gainfully employed, life skills, financial literacy, sober living tools, and participate in spiritual and cultural classes.

Eligible participants must be sober, able to pay the program fees, and can live independently. The goal of Shirley’s Place is to provide our residents with the skills and stability needed to secure permanent housing.

Graduates of Shirley’s Place go on to have permanent market housing, supportive living housing, or medically supportive housing.

Prospective residents will need to complete an application and interview.

"My favourite thing is the home visits! They make me accountable. The home visits really make me feel supported. I have the ability to air out my thoughts and make a concrete plan.”
