Parole Board of Canada

The Board is an independent administrative tribunal that has exclusive authority under the Corrections and Conditional Release Act to grant, deny, cancel, terminate or revoke day parole and full parole. The Board is also responsible for making decisions to order, refuse to order, and revoke record suspensions under the Criminal Records Act and the Criminal Code of Canada. A record suspension is a formal attempt to remove the stigma of a criminal record for people who, having been convicted of an offence, have satisfied the sentence and remained crime-free. The Board also makes recommendations for the exercise of clemency through the Royal Prerogative of Mercy.

Correctional Service Canada

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the court. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community

Office of the Correctional Investigator

The primary function of the Office is to investigate and bring resolution to individual offender complaints. The Office also has a responsibility to review and make recommendations on the Correctional Service's policies and procedures associated with the areas of individual complaints to ensure that systemic areas of concern are identified and appropriately addressed.
